Study: Virgin olive oil reduces high blood pressure

Researchers at La Trobe University in Australia revealed that high-quality virgin olive oil can play an important role in lowering high blood pressure.

This discovery adds to growing evidence supporting the heart-healthy virtues of the Mediterranean diet, famous for its generous use of olive oil.

The importance of high-quality virgin olive oil lies in its powerful antioxidants, especially “polyphenols,” as these small compounds are found in many plants, including fruits, vegetables, and even tea.

“Polyphenols” are famous for their multiple uses, and they act as antioxidants that protect the body’s cells from damage.

High-quality virgin olive oil, in particular, is characterized by a high percentage of the “polyphenol” compound, with its high concentration of these health-promoting nutrients.

The current study aims to study the effects of olive oils. To do this, the researchers recruited 50 healthy adults and divided them into two groups.

One group consumed olive oil rich in polyphenols, while the other group consumed olive oil that contains a smaller amount of polyphenols.

Over the course of three weeks, each participant consumed 60 milliliters of their own oil daily.

To measure the effect of olive oil consumption, researchers assessed the participants’ blood pressure through two distinct methods. The results painted a convincing picture.

Those who consumed high-quality olive oil experienced a significant decrease in blood pressure.

Blood pressure: Researchers assume that regular consumption of this type of olive oil can play a pivotal role in preventing heart disease.

Managing blood pressure is also a pivotal element in maintaining general health, especially with age.

This study also confirms the possibility of incorporating high-quality olive oil into an individual’s diet as a direct approach to supporting heart health.

However, researchers stress the need for further investigations to comprehensively uncover the effect of olive oil on other aspects of heart health, such as various parameters. Blood pressure and arteriosclerosis.
